The series of soft pastel works take Jacob Appel (I)’s ‘Dolls’ House of Petronella Oortman’ c.1710 as the point of departure to explore the architecture of the body through it’s spatial openings. The drawings are presented in a series of found frames in the ‘tramp art’ tradition: a 19th century woodworking movement where accessible material such as that from cigar boxes and shipping crates are reclaimed into a language of utilitarian folk art.
